TREAT OF THE WEEK- We welcome you to the Lollypop Kids!

Picture 1
Go square…be hip!  Butterscotch, Chocolate, Vanilla, and Cafe Latte. This adorable square box of lollys is a wonderful gift for all of your up coming parties and events. Great holiday gift too…or just a great treat. See’s Candies brings me back to my days of traveling around America. They are so patriotic! The taste is so unique. The shape is neat! Go gourmet !

IDOL EYES- Barbra Streisand

alg_barbara_streisandIdol of all idols is the one and only Babs. I’m so glad she is returning with new music, the CD Love is the Answer.. She refuses to change her look. The straight hair and her signature nails is what make her who she is. I think she is aware of that. No more mini’s, only Donna Karen chic. The voice like no other! She has been one of my idols since she made me crack up in her early films. I just love that Brooklyn accent. Not only is love the answer, but Barbra is the answer. Go back to essential Barbra CD for the entire history.

HIPPIE CHIC, Your Not Kidding!!

Picture 3With the return of season two of the Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo, I researched and almost died when I found out that  Zowie is as much of a Garcia fan as I am!!  I’m not talking Cherry Garcia ice cream…she mentioned her love for the Grateful Dead a few times in the first season .I will be listening to hear if she pays homage to this misunderstood band.
They are not a heavy metal band!!! She is a true bohemian hippie.
My Top Ten Dead Songs: I think Rachel may agree….

EDGE OF SEVENTEEN

As the start of every fashion season begins, I play this game with myself. Who wins BEST ad campaign? I’m a magazine maniac and love tearing through the pages. The fashion house that pops for me this up coming fall season is GUCCI. (Winner two seasons in a row, spring was also amazing) Their fall advertising spread is so edgy with the STICK STRAIGHT HAIRand Glitter. Black is Back with Revenge!!

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Picture 2
This is not a sing-a-long, although for me it is. I’m so curious how I remembered every single line from this classic album. Again I have talked about rediscovering older albums and listening to them on headphones via iPods. It is a different experience. Please do this with caution!  All the people around you may have to tap you on the shoulder to tell you to keep it down. I cannot remember what I did last weekend…but to quote Meatloaf is food for thought.

IM ALOT ROCK-N- ROLL

marie_osmond_doll
We all know that Marie Osmond is alittle bit country, but when I met her recently in Toronto, she was more Va Va Voom. Her 7″ platform heels, and her gorgeous black main of hair shinned through!!  She beamed with personality and was as sweet as a button. I can’t wait to read her book filled with life tales and lessons. She told me that “even men enjoy reading this book”. She was such a DOLL!

Who Knew Burger Heaven Came With White Linens!

I made it through with only one napkin at this great new restaurant, 5 Napkin Burger on 45th/9th ave in New York City. Go for the original!! Let me warn you, it is extremely messy. By the end I was eating the burger and the bun with a fork and knife. This was a first. I guess that was why I didn’t need all 5 napkins like they suggested in their title. I left floating……

P.S. I LOVE YOU. Part 2

20090817_lovecovers_560x375
Love comes around again for issue two. For the debut cover, this amazing new British magazine featured Beth Ditto (see my “who are you?” section). For issue two, editor and stylist Katie Grand is producing a male and a female cover. It is all about “new blood”. The decision is yours…which copy you want to sink your teeth into? I may have to buy both!

Are You Ready For The Country?

Picture 1
I’m ready to pick BLACK CHERRIES.  This “Beckman” boot at Bergdorf Goodman screams Fall 2009. I used to wear Red Wing Boots when this rugged look was popular in the early 90’s. I never knew Red Wing would move up the fashion ladder all the way to B.G.’s!  They also come in black, but the  black cherry is the way to go. Start looking for plaid and flannel. This time around fitted and fierce. No more lumber Jack…I think it is stacked heeled Jim.

LAND OF MAKE BELIEVE

IMG_0939
“Flower Girls Gone Wild” was this years theme of the annual party held on Fisherman’s Path in The Pines on Fire Island. This party was all about creativity, fun, humor and all for a good time. No admission fees ,no hidden agendas, these boys want to have fun!  This party reminded me of the good ole days of Fire Island, where themes were wild, and where there were parties galore. All for the sake of fun and a good time. Flower Power this was not! Broadway on steroids! No. Just some good mascara, heels and tunes!.
