BLAST FROM THE PAST- RHODA (1975)

Valerie Harper played the famous “window dresser” in her spin off series. She was one of my idols and I loved her chic hippie new york 70’s style. Her headbands and caftans gave her a warm and friendly vibe. This DVD of the 2nd season is coming out this month and I can’t wait. It is supposed to be better quality and uncut versions of her amazing show. Val is also making a comeback on Broadway in the show LOOPED. All hands together for VAL.

BLAST FROM THE PAST-Patrick Nagel

Duran Duran galore. I recently had a amazing flashback to the images of artist Patrick Nagel. During the 80’s his images and posters were all over the place. Girls on Film…. All the girls wanted to look as air brushed as Nagel’s girls. Today all the young girls want to be a Nagel girl. Wonder like a wolf into Nagel’s world.

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Picture 2
This is not a sing-a-long, although for me it is. I’m so curious how I remembered every single line from this classic album. Again I have talked about rediscovering older albums and listening to them on headphones via iPods. It is a different experience. Please do this with caution!  All the people around you may have to tap you on the shoulder to tell you to keep it down. I cannot remember what I did last weekend…but to quote Meatloaf is food for thought.

MUSIC MANIAC: Blondie- Parallel Lines

The cover of this break through Blondie record was so visual when it came out. I was obsessed with the black and white stripes and the bold graphic quality. This is a fun summer CD to get into again. This is a classic with a twist. It is punchy and pop. I’m so used to hearing these songs from my vinyl days, that now hearing it on headphones via an iPod, the sounds is as fantastic as ever. Go Blonde!!!

BLAST FROM THE PAST

I think we all feel this sometimes: Stop the World I Want To Get Off. This obscure 1962 musical staring Anthony Newley reminded me of growing up and staring at this picture of the world. The title alone and the clever picture brings back memories of curiosity to explore.

BLAST FROM THE PAST: BOSTON

Hearing this music for the first time was “more than a feeling”. It was like a new sensation. Being in my room and hearing this music as a teenager made me feel all new. I could not classify it or describe the crisp production and spacey sounds. Was this new wave or just new?? Where were the look, all I saw was a guitar in space. This band had no image and why the name Boston??  It was a mystery, but I loved it!!

BLAST FROM THE PAST: The Great Gazoo

Ground control to the Great Gazoo. Seeing this image recently made me remember this funny little martian. I decided to start a new section called Blast from the Past, literally a BLAST. Who remembers The Flintstones? Who knew the voice of the zany character was Harvey Korman. I always loved when this original “mini-me” popped on to the screen. Talk about going green.
