TWIG THE WUNDERKIND

I finally found the ultimate TWIGGY book published by the National Portrait Gallery. It is called “A Life in Photographs”. This book includes work of the iconic photographers Avedon, Cecil Beaton, all the way up to Steven Meisel and Leibovitz. Many more in between. This book was published to celebrate her 60th birthday. Let’s all celebrate this beautiful icon and idol. BTW you can catch Twiggy on HSN selling her collection inspired by the swinging 60’s. Go to amazon.com to get this book shipped from London. It is a great gift for any MOD party.

HISTORY BUFFS AND ROCK AND ROLLERS APPLY

This new Broadway show returns! It started last year “off Broadway” and has now landed on the big stage . I recently saw this show and really enjoyed the history lesson about our past president Andrew Jackson. The Silver Fox must have been absent from that lesson in elementary school. I learned what a rebel he was and the pairing of this lesson to rock music is a new and creative concept. I give this show a big plus for the creativity of the concept and also for the content. Who doesn’t have a fantasy of a president who likes to moves his hips?

THEN – THE STONE ROSES – 1989

I Wanna Be Adored is one of the classic songs from the late 80’s. The sound was moving into guitar and fuzzy sounds and blurry voices. The Stone Roses were the first on the scene and now, going back to this album, I realize how much they influenced bands like Nirvana and all the early 90’s bands including the current band Deerhunter.

Take a trip back to the warmth and density of this music.

NOW – DEERHUNTER – 2010

The cover is only the beginning. It is a photo from the Miss Starlite Pageant  which is a female impersonation pageant.  It is by the photographer George Mitchell. This moody and eerie picture puts you in a dream like space which Deerhunter provides the soundtrack. I saw this band twice and they are great and talented musicians. This album takes them to a new level. It is beautiful music with a fuzzy guitar and voice to bring you into a land of mystery.

WHAT IS BLACK AND WHITE AND HAS DOTS ALL OVER?

Answer: A Pop Art drawing by ROY LICHTENSTEIN at The Morgan Library and Museum. Run to this never-before-shown single exhibition of the extraordinary drawings from the Pop Art movement. The years we are talking about are 1961- 1968. I learned so much about this artist and the period. He took some of the simple everyday objects and turned them into a POP pie!

SPLURGE GALORE – FELT UP!

I have been talking about the return of the MEN’s Backpack! I’m crazy over this Wool Felt olive green Jack Spade backpack. It is large, roomy and trimmed in leather. The $375.00 price is worth the Splurge for the season. This is strictly for Fall/Winter. The rugged wool felt and army green color hits two trends at once. Put this on over your “statement coat” and you will be ready to march right into an army for dreamers!

SPLURGE GALORE: PUCCI, PUCCI, POO!

OK, Everyone loves Emilio Pucci. It is the ultimate 60’s dream print. The swirls and colors brings back visions of Twiggy, Mini skirts, Mod, Beyond Chic, and Grand Luxury!

I recently discovered this OVERSIZED book at the Taschen book shop in Soho for $200.00. The array of covers were all out and a Brazilian woman was buying it as a wedding present for her girlfriend (great idea!). You can pick the cover you like there, but if you want to pay only $126.00 then go to Amazon.com. They will ship you the cover they want for you. Go crazy and swirl all over and get wild for prints. I can’t wait to see what cover I get! Make room, coffee table, for your new flamboyant friend.

TUMBLING STONES- STONES IN EXILE

Now that everyone has a flat screen with many many speakers why not try a rock and roll documentary . The year is the spring of 1971. The Rolling Stones reluctantly departed the UK for France. They recorded the most famous stones album called Exile On Main Street. The fashion from 1971 looks as good as today. Bohemian chic lives on and rocks on….

SPLURGE GALORE- BLUE COPPER 5 by OSMOTICS

I will do anything for “firming elasticity repair”… wouldn’t you? So why not spread some light blue cream on your face! The color is so intense that it makes you feel like you are in some experimental project in Mars. The smell is wonderful and the effects really works. I feel like this product removes any damage that my New York City day brings on. Once this “Blue Copper” is on my face I feel repaired for life. All the best beauty magazines loves this product. It is also the number one by Osmotics. Take the trip to Mars or Saturn with some Blue Copper.

TREAT OF THE WEEK- SOME EYE CANDY

It’s Back!! The A and F quarterly. I have been collecting this magazine of Bruce Weber’s photos for Ambercrombie for years. I have a big dusty pile of them in my closet. Every single one. They took and break and now started to publish again. For $10.00 what a treat. I ran and bought 3 copies. One to open (they are sealed), one to save (sealed of course), and one for a gift for a friend.  Who doesn’t want some eye candy? This $10.00 is less calories and after viewing you will understand.
