TREAT OF THE WEEK- Sugar Soap

Sugar Pie Honey Bunch- $14.00 to smell sweet as sugar. It is worth every penny for the long lasting (3 months I was told ) bar of soap. Treat your self, you will be FRESH!  I have used many products from Fresh in the past and I keep discovering new products to keep me clean crisp and fresh. It totally made my week and can’t wait for tomorrow morning.

WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA’AM

I guess I meant wham BANG thank you ma’am. “Bang” being the new fragrance for men from Marc. I loved his fragrances of past…so soft, light and airy. I’m scared. This new image is a little strong for me. Marc, we all hit the gym, we all reinvent ourselves, we all are in our 40’s, we all have facial hair, we got it, but you’re really scaring me. You better smell great!!!

TREAT OF THE WEEK-Sugar Free Red Bull

Forget the 6 pack this summer and try a different approach like the 4- pack of sugar-free Red Bull. This little treat is great to have in the refrigerator…it is the new staple. For under $8.00 you can have a nice treat to make your summer more energetic and fast paced. This stuff is very very strong. Give your self at least 6 hours for this energy drink to wind down. You will be amazed at the zing and zest of your summer…and best yet, only half the calories.

SICK SUMMER READS- YOU PICK!!

ROLE MODELS by John Waters

THE BEDWETTER by Sarah Silverman

I’m set for summer. Just some fun and light and sick summer reading. Make sure you cover these books in a plain brown wrapper….you don’t want your pool mates to think you are ready for the insane asylum. Also please bring a mask so you don’t start laughing and spraying everyone in sight. Sick minds think alike, and that is why John and Sarah have brought you some of the most fun summer reading to sharpen your brain.

Hidden Gem- PRUNE

It is always nice to go to a new territory that is unexplored. I went with my friend for a wonderful lunch to PRUNE at 54 East 1st Street in New York City. First of all I love the name! When you hear the name prune you automatically think “prune juice” Yuk. Well I was in for a big surprise. No prune juice–just wonderful and different tastes and combinations. I felt like I was in someone’s kitchen eating new and different recipes. This is a small hidden gem down in the East Village. Go and explore!

WHO ARE YOU? Rudi Gernreich

Austrian-born and notorious inventor of the “monokini”. He was the bathing suit king who pushed the fashion envelope with his futuristic designs. Vogue featured his controversial thong bathing suits in 1975 captured by photographer Helmut Newton. I recently saw a play called “The Temeramentals”. It takes place in the 1950’s where a young Rudi was starting one of the first Gay Rights movements in California. The history of this play and the fashion twist of Rudi’s flamboyant personality kept my interest. Go for a dip of nostalgia.

Mini Miss Melissa

These cupcakes are in my mind “guilt free”, that is because they are so small that you forget you even put them in your mouth. All kinds of kooky flavors too. Baked By Melissa is my new favorite thing. Mini bite size cupcakes!! They are also displayed in such a manor– like toy soliders lined up to be eaten. Very orderly and neat. Just how I like it. Missy has two locations already in the city. Dunkin better watch out, little mini Miss Melissa is on her way.

EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS IS NOWHERE- Ryan McGinley

I love everything about this new body of work by the photographer Ryan McGinley. I was lucky to go to the gallery opening–but the 3,000 people on the streets of Soho made it impossible to view the art. I went back a few weeks later when there were only 10 people around. A much better view. For those of you who missed the show, I would run and buy this limited edition book from Dashwood. Ryan’s books are very collectable! I was able to get mine personally signed by Ryan. Yes I have connections. It pays to be nice. The title of this work is named after a classic Neil Young record…I love that!! A conversation between Ryan and Catherine Opie starts out this wonderful collection of black and white photos.

Music Maniac: Tracey Thorn “Love and its Opposite”

Mostly piano, cello and other instruments gives her voice a outstanding vocal performance. We all know her from “Everything but the Girl”. Well it is time to get to know the new Everybody Girl. Susanna Hoffs- When Your a Boy

THEN (1991)

Another side project that is deep and personal. This time from the lead vocalist from The Bangles. I have always felt that Susanna has a warm and amazing voice. I think her vocal style was under-rated! This CD which I dug out from my collection is a great classic to go back to. The songs are all written with heart and realism.
