SPLURGE GALORE – PATENT PENDING

Suede in the summer is one of the most luxurious materials.  I’m also a big “Patent Pusher.”  These sneaker/shoes have it all.  I have been after a pair of Lanvins for almost two years.  Still no luck!  Gifts welcome anytime . These “classics” have been in the line for awhile so we know they are a main stay. I first tried them on in Jeffrey and the sale associate kindly educated me on the making of these wonderful trainers.  They are made in shoe factories and when I stepped in, I felt like I had put on a pair of extremely well made shoes.  The price was justified, or so I convinced myself.  Navy for Spring or there is always next season.  Suede and Patent and like Bonnie and Clyde.  Watch out!

Why Are Serums So Expensive? Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Serum

Serums are all the rage now.  Every skin care line has a serum or two.  I love the way they feel and work.  They glide on your skin and tighten and firm.  Then you put on a moisturizer or not.  The serum just makes your skin feel like you just had a treatment.  Clean, fresh and new.  I’m now loving this one from Origins.  $55.00 for the small and $75.00 for the large.  You only need a bit so they so last a while.  Serums are light and not heavy on the skin.  Serums are worth every penny for smooth and beautiful skin.  Plantscription is practical yet pricey.  Anti-aging is worth every penny in my book!

POC, POC, POC – POP OF COLOR

POC is the newest trend in men’s and women’s fashion for spring 2012.  I love this term and I’m going to dare to try it.  Pop Of Color is exactly like it sounds.  Dare to be different.  I love these military belts by 7 Hill in orange and lime green boys.   The military will have fun with these!  White jeans, black tee shirt and your POC and your set.  Also sneakers are a great way to get a POC into your wardrobe.  Piperlime.com offers these belts for $30.00 so treat yourself and turn your military look into a passion fruit FRENZY.

SOME GIRLS

White frames, White walls, White lights, and “100 Headless Women” is the topic for Max Snow. This talented photographer is exhibiting his concept at Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts from March 2nd to April 7th. These bold images are beautiful and mysterious on so many levels . The large scale of these photos are magical. I want one on my wall now! Run to see this show and the wonderful transformation of these Goddesses.

As The Glimmer Twins Mick and Keith said:

Some girls give me money
Some girls buy me clothes
Some girls give me jewelry
That I never thought I’d own
Some girls give me diamonds
Some girls, heart attacks
Some girls I give all my bread to
I don’t ever want it back
Some girls give me jewelry
Others buy me clothes
Some girls give me children
I never asked them for

MUSIC MANIAC – RUMER

NOW: Rumer – Seasons of My Soul (2010)

I heard a Rumer! She is not Rumer Willis just in case you got confused like I did. Instead she is the new British voice to top the charts. Her new album called Seasons of my Soul is easy listening in that groovy-mellow-Sunday-afternoon kinda way.   Karen Carpenter meets Dusty Springfield.  Rumer is the “goodbye girl.”  She covers the David Gates song from the movie of the same name.  Her voice is so smooth and crystal clear that it will clear a path back to the 70’s am radio days.
THEN: K.D. Lang – Drag (1997)

Remember this one?  This was one of K.D.’s smoothest albums to date.  This music felt like smoke going up into the air and floating on top of your living room.  Lounge Lizard.  Mellow Mama.  I loved this music in 1997 and still believe it is one of her best.  After listening to Rumer, I immediately thought of Drag.  There are also cover versions of songs on Drag from the 60’s and 70’s.  This was her Season of her Soul.

PRETTY IN DIET PINK – GAY MEN DON’T GET FAT

Diet Coke- off the list ( too much sodium)
Cup Cakes- off the list
Ice Cream -off the list
Potato Chips – off the list

The new book from Simon Doonan, the famous creative director of Barneys New York, is telling it like it is.  His new book is pretty in pink and I love it!  The cover alone is smashing and the title makes me smile.  It is kinda true!  When you look at a menu, the first thing we do is look at what we are NOT eating.  No, no, nope, maybe, never, not tonight, ok I’ll go to the gym in the am.

Foodies the gays are!  Eaters we are not!  Remember: pink is the new black and just as slimming.

HIDDEN GEM – RYE HOUSE

One day I was walking down 17th Street in New York City and I glanced at the menu of a new young professional restaurant called Rye House.  I saw “Boiled Peanuts” on the menu and I instantly started salivating for this southern “side of the road delicacy.”  Boiled peanuts was a family treat from Savannah, Georgia. My Uncle Bubba spoiled me with these warm and salty peanuts as soon as my feet hit the ground from the airplane. Rye House has a rustic decor and thrives on gourmet comfort food. Grilled Cheese with Truffle oil? A killer ice cream sandwich — a must have. Comfort, boiled peanuts, and truffle oil. I’m so in!

BLAST FROM THE PAST – JIFFY POP

Just sayin’. . . Butter flavor, of course!

FRESHLY SQUEEZED – ADLER ADDICTION

A blend of Ruby Pink and White grapefruit makes this candle POP! The bright yellow glass vessel will brighten up any room! Last year I received two of these candles on the same night at my birthday dinner. Great minds think alike. Thanks, guys! I had to slowly burn out my last candle in anticipation to start using the new Adler addition to my home. WOW. The wonderful scent is like heaven. It is soft and dreamy. Even when the candle is not burning the glorious smell still permeates in the room. This candle is the signature scent of “SoulCycle,” the new trendy spin class haven in NYC. Thanks Jonathan for making a candle that is a breath of fresh air!
